ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE
Many of us are mystified by our back pain, excess tension and lack of coordination. We are plagued by recurrent injuries and see our posture as unchangeable. We want to perform better but something is in the way. What many of us don’t realize is how much our movement and postural habits interfere with our body’s natural and efficient coordination and contribute to our problems. The Alexander Technique provides a means for overcoming these impeding habits by becoming more aware of how we engage in our activities.
Developed over 100 years ago, the Alexander Technique is a simple and practical method for improving ease and freedom of movement, balance, support and coordination. As people study the Alexander Technique they are surprised at how changeable their body really is. People the world over use the Alexander Technique to address a wide variety of problems such as chronic neck, shoulder and back pain, stress-related conditions, repetitive strain injuries, breathing and vocal difficulties, among others. Musicians, actors, dancers and athletes often study the Alexander Technique as way to help improve their performance.
